Himalaya day special

Every year September 9th is observed as Himalaya day and this time we bring  you  something special.

From top known literary voices to prominent flowing rivers and food culture, we also  ping A note on the recent Nepal disaster to understand why we need more voices to protect  the Himalayas.

5 notable blind/visually impaired literary voices connected with the Himalaya

  1. Saurabh Pant — Nainital, Uttarakhand
A visually impaired author born in Nainital, Pant has developed a substantial body of literary work while using screen-reader technology. His Himalayan identity is particularly significant because his literary journey began in Uttarakhand and continued through education in Dehradun and Delhi.

  2. Dev Datta Joshi — Far-Western Nepal
Joshi grew up in the remote hills of western Nepal and lost most of his eyesight as a child. He became a lawyer, writer and disability-rights advocate, using articles and writing to campaign for greater opportunities for blind and visually impaired Nepalis.

  3. Nirmala Gyawali — Nepal
A visually impaired Nepali writer/advocate, Gyawali is especially notable for establishing Nepal's first Braille library. Her work combines literacy, access to books and advocacy for people with visual disabilities.

  4. Kunwar Singh Negi — Pauri, Uttarakhand
Negi was a major figure in Braille publishing rather than conventional literary authorship. Born in Pauri, he worked with the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped in Dehradun and reportedly helped transliterate around 300 books into Braille. He received the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.

  5. Sampurna Chattarji — Darjeeling (low-vision rather than blind)
Chattarji grew up in Darjeeling and is an established poet, novelist and translator. She has written about sight and visual impairment, including in Sight May Strike You Blind. A literary source describes her as having severe myopia and a vision impairment, so she belongs in a broader visually impaired/low-vision category rather than a strictly blind-author list.

Here are 5 of the most famous and important rivers associated with the Himalayas:

  1. Ganges River (Ganga) 🇮🇳 — One of South Asia’s most revered rivers, originating from the Himalayan glaciers in Uttarakhand.

Nepal Flash Floods: An environmental reminder

  • A Himalayan Warning on Himalaya Day

The devastating flash flood that struck Nepal on 26th August 2026 is a stark reminder of Himalayan fragility.

Triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border, the floodwaters of the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers swept through Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and downstream districts, claiming over 1,340 lives, with nearly 5,000 people still missing and affecting 32,000+ people. Homes, bridges, schools and a dozen hydropower projects were destroyed..

As Nepal observed national mourning on the 13th day as per Hindu tradition, PM Balendra Shah linked the disaster to climate change, noting a 1.8°C rise in Himalayan temperatures.

On Himalaya Day, this tragedy underlines that the Himalayas are not just a boundary but a living ecosystem. Unregulated construction, deforestation, and hydropower expansion in eco-sensitive zones amplify such disasters.

Protecting the Himalayas demands:

- *Climate adaptation: Early warning systems for glacial lake outbursts

- *Eco-sensitive development: No-construction zones along floodplains

- *Ecosystem restoration: Afforestation and sustainable tourism

“If we don't protect the Himalayas, the Himalayas cannot protect us”

Happy HImalaya day everyone.

Renewing the commitment for Tigers

'Without the roar, the forests won’t find its tune, so don’t snatch the power which commands its position.’

Saurabh Pant

🐅 Overview

World Tiger Day is observed every year on 29 July to raise awareness about the conservation of one of nature's most magnificent creatures—the tiger. As a symbol of strength, courage, and ecological balance, the tiger plays a vital role in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems.

This special day reminds us that protecting tigers means protecting forests, rivers, biodiversity, and the future of our planet. Thanks to the collective efforts of conservationists, governments, local communities, and wildlife enthusiasts, significant progress has been made in tiger conservation. Yet, the responsibility to safeguard their habitats and ensure their survival remains a shared global mission.

The recent instances of what happened in reserves of MP and poisoning tiger cubs in Haridwar highlights the challenges Tigers face to survive amongst the rising Human population with habitat loss and other issues making us realise there is a lot to be done.

On this World Tiger Day, let us celebrate the beauty and resilience of these majestic big cats while renewing our commitment to wildlife protection and environmental stewardship. Every effort to conserve nature contributes to a healthier and more sustainable world for future generations.

"Save Tigers, Save Forests, Save the Future.", Happy World Tiger Day!

🌏 Saving Tigers: Addressing Modern Threats

Tigers remain among the world's most iconic and endangered wildlife species. While conservation efforts have helped increase tiger populations in several regions, these magnificent animals continue to face serious challenges. Poaching remains one of the greatest threats, driven by illegal wildlife trade that targets tiger skins, bones, and other body parts. Habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, shrinking forest corridors, and climate change further endanger their survival.

In recent years, wildlife experts have also reported concerns related to diseases, injuries, and health complications affecting individual tigers. Like all living creatures, tigers can suffer from infections, neurological disorders, tumors, and other medical conditions that may impact their wellbeing, particularly in fragmented habitats where veterinary intervention is difficult.

Protecting tigers requires a comprehensive approach: stronger anti-poaching measures, preservation of natural habitats, scientific monitoring, veterinary support, and active community participation. By safeguarding tigers, we also protect entire ecosystems that support countless other species and provide essential resources for humanity.

On this World Tiger Day, let us renew our commitment to ensuring that future generations inherit a world where tigers continue to roam free, healthy, and secure in their natural habitats.

Message: “Every tiger saved is a victory for nature, biodiversity, and the future of our planet.”

📖 Author’s note on Tiger day

By Saurabh Pant

On the occasion of World Tiger Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all conservationists, forest officials, wildlife researchers, volunteers, and local communities who have dedicated themselves to protecting one of nature's most magnificent creations—the tiger.

The tiger is not merely a symbol of strength and grace; it is an indicator of the health of our forests and ecosystems. Every successful conservation effort reflects humanity's commitment to preserving the delicate balance of nature. The encouraging progress made in tiger conservation across many regions demonstrates what can be achieved through collective determination, scientific stewardship, and public awareness.

Yet, our responsibility continues as it is not enough. Poaching, habitat degradation, climate change, and other emerging challenges remind us that wildlife protection requires constant vigilance and cooperation. By safeguarding tigers, we safeguard forests, biodiversity, and the natural heritage that future generations deserve to inherit.

I commend all those who work tirelessly to ensure that the roar of the tiger continues to echo through our forests. May their efforts inspire greater environmental consciousness and strengthen our shared commitment to the preservation of life on Earth.

Saurabh Pant has explored the field of Public Relations through both published writings and academic contributions available on platforms such as Scribd. His work reflects an interest in the evolving role of communication, reputation management, public perception, and the relationship between institutions and society.. Among his notable contributions are the books "Contest of Public Relations" and "Conflict of Public Relations," published by British Royal Public.

These works examine the challenges, complexities, and competing narratives that shape modern public relations practices. They discuss how organizations, governments, public figures, and institutions navigate communication in an increasingly interconnected and information-driven world..

Pant's writings highlight key themes such as strategic communication, public opinion, media influence, crisis management, stakeholder engagement, and the ethical dimensions of public relations. His approach presents public relations not merely as a promotional tool but as a discipline that helps build understanding, trust, and dialogue between organizations and their audiences. These themes align with widely accepted definitions of public relations as a planned and sustained effort to establish mutual understanding between organizations and their publics.

📘 Overview of Saurabh Pant's Public Relations Works

Overview of Book 1

Saurabh Pant's public relations writings explore the evolving role of communication, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement in contemporary society. Through titles such as Contest of Public Relations and Conflict of Public Relations, he examines how organizations, institutions, and individuals navigate public perception in an increasingly interconnected world.

The book titled  Contest of Public Relations focuses on the competitive dimensions of public communication, highlighting how narratives, media strategies, and public trust influence organizational success. The work discusses the challenges of maintaining credibility while adapting to changing public expectations.

Conflict of Public Relations addresses communication during disputes, crises, and periods of social tension. The book explores the importance of dialogue, transparency, conflict resolution, and ethical communication in preserving relationships between organizations and their audiences. Themes such as crisis management, public opinion, and strategic messaging are central to the discussion. 📖 Institutional  Relationships in Saurabh Pant's PR Works

Overview of Book 2

In Contest of Public Relations and Conflict of Public Relations, Saurabh Pant examines the complex interactions that occur among institutions, organizations, and diverse stakeholder groups within contemporary society.

The books suggest that public relations functions within an institutional order where governments, corporations, educational bodies, media organizations, and civil society groups continuously negotiate influence, legitimacy, and public trust.

A significant theme is the concept of cross-status relationships, referring to communication between entities that possess different levels of authority, power, resources, or social standing. These relationships may exist between governments and citizens, corporations and consumers, educational institutions and communities, or media organizations and public audiences.

The works emphasize that successful public relations requires institutions to move beyond hierarchical communication and embrace community’s well being,  dialogue, transparency, and mutual understanding.

In situations of competition (contest) or disagreement (conflict), communication serves as a bridge that can reduce misunderstanding and foster cooperation among stakeholders of varying status and make the negotiation productive.

Thanks everyone for making these both works a great success through your valuable time.

A quick word of gratitude also  to  all those who had read my PR works on scribd online, keep enjoying  folks.
