This is the oldest Badminton tournament that first began back in 1898 and still take place inviting all high class players across world and is played in London at current. It first began in Guildford in 1898 and then was shifted to the Halls of London as a professional sport and was considered as world championship of the same sport until before in 1977 the International badminton federation anounced its own championship. However The tournament was only haulted twice, 1st during the 1st world war from 1915 to 1919, and back second in 2nd world war from 1940 to 1945 making sure that people not get effected, and has been a pillar tournament of the sport making its reputation well known all over the world amongst the players of Badminton itself. Generally it is known for it's own spectrum, technical proficiency and equal respect as a high class tournament and players mark it of high calibre. According to the current BWF rules, It got the status of Super series back in the year 2007 becoming a professionally recognised tournament to the players of 21st century. However in the year 2011, the official body transformed its role being more high and it was applauded with the title of Superseries Premier which shhows the calibre in which the tournament is played and the impact it has made as a professional sport series for such a particular sport as well. The first Indian player to reach the grand finals of this grand tournament was Prakash Nath who did that in 1947 but lost due to which he remained as a runner up. However, Prakash Padhukon is the only Indian to have been able to be played the finals 2 times in All England open Badminton tournament where in 1980 he won the title and in the year 1981 he finished as the runners up in the tournament. Although current coach legend of Badminton Sir Pulela Gopichand also reached to the finals of this grand tournament in Mens single but lost in the finals and ended it as runner up in the year 2001. The same case is with the only Woman to have made impact as an Indian in Womens single and she is Saina Neherwal who ended up as runners up in the year 2015 itself.
